Hi!

I am an independent researcher, writer and editor based in Delhi, India.

I’ve spent most of my career building and perfecting niche editorial and data products—and helping others do the same. Along the way, I have worked in diverse settings, from academic centres, journalistic outlets, advocacy bodies, and research initiatives.

My work spans critical socio-economic themes, often linked to equity and inclusion—such as gender data, labour force, and political participation. I regularly use public datasets in these themes to decode how social identities dictate outcomes for people in India and globally.

Across various roles, my work has taken several forms over the years: data journalism, analytical narratives, policy reports, strategic advocacy, high-impact knowledge products, training curricula, workshops and lectures, and most proudly for me, a long-running newsletter I run independently.

For nearly six years now, this unique monthly publication #WomenLead, has been a chronicler of all the important stories, updates and analysis on women’s political participation in the remotest as well the richest parts of the globe. Hundreds of loyal subscribers, across professions, across the world, consider it essential reading. The unique expertise I’ve built tracking this theme has found its way into the annual “Women in Parliaments” report by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU): I have been chosen to write four of its editions since 2021.

When I was editor (and later the director) at the Centre for Economic Data and Analysis (CEDA), Ashoka University, I conceptualised and launched “Women & Work”, a monthly newsletter tracking women’s participation in paid work in India. I also oversaw the production and dissemination of various data offerings at the centre, managed the centre's project examining women's labour force participation and spearheaded "Datascape", a full-day event featuring conversations on India's socio-economic datasets. Currently, I write the “Unemployment Tracker” for BasisPoint Insight and I am also helping build the Queer Data Lab for queerbeat.

I collaborate with ease with all kinds of functions—from tech and product to editorial and design, from administration to programme management. This unique vantage point helps me address problems in atypical and innovative ways that focus on efficiency and impact, while not losing sight of the human side of everyone involved. Alongside, you can count on me to take complex inputs—data, studies, news, surveys, interviews, and so on—and present them to lay audiences in various forms, with rigour, accuracy, and style.

When I am not working, I like to spend my time reading, taking long meditative walks, or exploring places of architectural and artistic heritage.

Please get in touch if you’d like to commission work, collaborate, explore speaking/training opportunities, or if you’d like to share feedback or suggestions.
